I particularly enjoyed Digital Inclusion: The New Core Service by Liz Gabbitas. The exposure to different library goals, missions, new technologies, and innovative programming expanded my personal goals along with the vision I bring to my work and my library. Digital inclusion, like all DEI, is critical at this juncture in time. These themes helped to inspire and reorient my focus after a challenging year for the [redacted] Public Library and libraries in general.

The [conference session] that will have the greatest impact on my library was Digital Inclusion: The New Core Service. As digital services manager, it offered insights that strengthened my understanding and was particularly helpful. The grant that provided funds for our hotspots ended, and administration was interested in providing options for our patrons. From the content shared in this session, taught by Liz Gabbitas, I was able to provide information about the Affordable Connectivity Program, explain it to our staff, and spearhead creating a group of trained city employees who can help residents navigate the sign-up. Without attending, neither I nor anyone at my library would have known of this program or how to use it to benefit our patrons. This session was tremendously beneficial to me as it exposed me to new programs and ideas.

I was nervous for a presentation I had to give, so I watched recordings of Liz’s past trainings to pick up some tips. She always seems so enthusiastic and makes you feel comfortable. Liz is a great speaker!
