New to libraries, archives, museums, or nonprofits? Just graduated? Looking for your first professional job or a change in your career path?
I can help.
You should feel confident and prepared as you launch your job hunt. If you’re nervous or unsure, a little practice and familiarity with the professional landscape can make a big difference. I’ll share my years of experience with recruitment, applicant review, and hiring committees. Early career mentoring is a passion of mine; I want to see you succeed.
Document Review
Writing a resume, cover letter, curriculum vitae (CV), diversity statement, or other personal statement is a skill unlike any other. Often the hardest part of the job search is making the case for yourself on paper. I can do an in-depth review of your application materials to spot problems and highlight opportunities for improvement. I can also help you re-frame your work history for a career pivot, or even start from scratch if that’s what you need.
Inclusions and pricing details
- 15 min phone call so I can get to know your experience and target job or career goals
- Review of 1 document with written feedback and thorough in-text notes
- $35 one-time cost
- Add on review of additional documents for $15 each
Mock Interview
Interviewing is a totally separate skill! Too many good candidates lose job opportunities because they aren’t prepared for the stress of rapid-fire questions and formal interview settings. I’ll run a practice interview, then provide specific and actionable feedback. Let’s build your confidence together.
Inclusions and pricing details
- 15 min phone call so I can get to know your job goals and prepare relevant interview questions
- 25 min mock interview: We’ll practice everything from getting on a virtual interview and introducing yourself to answering questions calmly under pressure and maintaining a professional attitude all the way until the sign-off
- Written feedback within 24 hours highlighting strengths, areas for improvement, and general impression
- $75 one-time cost
- For some job seekers, it is normal to be asked for a sample library program, a presentation, or to teach a sample lecture or lesson plan. Help is available as an add-on based on an hourly rate.
Full Service Coaching
Jump into the job search with someone in your corner. I can help you prepare your application materials, work up answers to interview questions, strategize your career trajectory, and more. This is especially worthwhile if you’re re-entering the workforce, you lack previous library experience, or you’re making a major change in your career path. I’ll prepare you to communicate your value to future employers.
