About

I’m a librarian with an interest in the future of library service and the profession. After nearly a decade working for state, public, and academic libraries, I’m passionate about the potential libraries and other public services have to grow and evolve. My work has proven to me that when we start with a foundation of library values, we can uncover sustainable ideas and build future-focused solutions.

I’ve been public speaking and teaching in a professional environment since 2011. After the passage of the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act (IIJA, which includes the Digital Equity Act and the Broadband Access, Equity, and Deployment (BEAD) Program) I’ve presented on digital equity countless times. My focus is on shifting perspectives and centering the work libraries already do as we envision the future. I love seeing my library colleagues develop the confidence to stand up and say “Yes, I’m an expert!” That is always my goal with trainings and presentations. You can see more about my past work experience here.

I live in the Washington, DC area. In my free time, I enjoy writing fiction, reading just about anything, and exploring my corner of the world with my wife and our dog. Send me a message if you’d like to connect. Virtual presentations and in person speaking are both options, and I’m happy to travel.

Colleagues say…

Liz was fantastic. Her expertise was evident and our Board members appreciated her answering all of their questions. The Board made the right decision in funding [this project]. The state is fortunate to have Liz.

State Board of Education chief of staff

I struggle with technology and the digital world. Liz is always so helpful and her presentation has encouraged me to learn more and be more involved.

Public library director

Liz showed excellent leadership. I appreciate the many ways she made it possible to bring so much internet connectivity to the citizens of Utah through the public libraries.
